2012 to Present

 

18-hole semi-private facility built in 1989 and designed by Karl Litten.

– Manage budget and staff with precision to ensure all aspects of the operation get attention.

– Integrated a very successful and aggressive agronomic program to transform all turfgrass.

– Establishing cutting-edge bentgrass conversion program with great success in half the typical
   time required; nutrient program implemented with a low nitrogen emphasis, which combined
   with conversion results in less inputs such as water, fungicides and mechanical practices during
   the growing season.

– Established superb reputation for consistent playing conditions while handling over 250 rounds
   per day during summer months.

– Greatly improved customer satisfaction, recognized through local publications and golfer-review
   sites such as golfnow.com.

– Created IPM program that helps reduce pesticide costs and is more environmentally friendly.

– Actively work to improve overall course through strategic tree removal, upgrading of
   compromised irrigation system, and other course infrastructure.

– Effectively communicate with Owner, Staff and Director of Golf.

 

 

 

The Hartford Golf Club

WEST HARTFORD, CT

ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT 
2007 to 2012

 

27-hole private facility opened in 1896 and designed by Donald Ross and Devereux Emmett.

 

– Played a critical role in improving course conditions worthy of club that would host USGA events.

– Gained valuable experience in managing a large staff of nearly 30 and budget of $1.6M.

– Significant responsibility for establishing and maintaining USGA-required course conditions for
   2008 USGA

– Girls’ Junior, over 10-day period with extremely challenging weather.

– Learned the value of using PGRs to increase bentgrass population on all playing surfaces.

– Excellent course renovation and build experience through the construction of USGA greens
   and complexes, shaping and installation of bunkers, and grow-in of 5,000 sf green using
   core aeration plugs.

 

 

 

 

Huntingdon Valley Country Club

HUNTINGDON, PA

ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT 
2005 to 2007

 

27-hole private facility opened in 1927 and designed by William Flynn, ranked #69 in US during tenure.

 

– Key member of management team that governed $1.4M operating budget.

– Gained knowledge of maintaining a “mat” profile on greens and fairways.

– Mastered water management to provide a firm and fast golf course.

– Coordinated and implemented the successful construction of green and tee complexes,
   green expansions, bunker redesign, installation and renovation, and numerous other
   construction projects.

– Hosted 2005 Pennsylvania Amateur and The Annual Lynnewood Hall Invitational, which is
   the second oldest Amateur tournament in US.

 

 

 

Blind Brook Club

ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT 
2000 to 2005

 

18-hole private facility opened in 1917 and designed by Seth Raynor.

 

– Assisted in development and implementation of $940K operating budget.

– Massive tree removal to continue ongoing golf course restoration and improve turf

   growing environment

– Involved with constructing new maintenance facility -- attended town ordinances, building
   inspector and architecture meetings.
